Ready to Join the Best Tour Team in Halifax?

Thanks for your interest in driving with Alternative Routes.

If you enjoy meeting new people, love Nova Scotia, and don’t mind spending your days on the road, you might be a great fit.

Got a few questions before applying? That’s fair.

Do I need a Class 4 license?

You don’t need one to apply. Most of our drivers upgrade for this role and we reimburse the cost. The process is usually quite straightforward, you just need to redo the written test and get a medical form filled out by your doctor, it’s usually a smooth and quick process.

Do I need experience as a tour guide?

Nope. We care much more about personality, reliability, and how you connect with people. If you enjoy chatting with new people and love Nova Scotia, we can teach you the rest!

What kind of driving will I be doing?

You’ll be driving small groups on day trips in a minivan—think coastal routes, scenic stops, and lots of good conversation along the way. Nothing rush- safety is our number one priority.

Do I need a resume?

Not right away. You can upload one if you have it, but it’s not required. Your answers will tell us a lot about you. We may request one later.

Could this be full time?

Right now we are offering part-time (approx 2 days and 20 hrs/week) and casual/on-call roles. But we are flexible. Let us know if you want more hours, we might be able to work this into a full time role. It’s just hard to know for sure before the season starts! Usually, we run from May 1st to Oct 31st consistently, but we are very flexible, so feel free to apply and we can discuss scheduling from there!
